The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC)

The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) is having its grand opening this week. ARTIC is the premier transportation hub in Southern California offering a unique variety of transit, dining, retail, and entertainment options in one location. The new facility will function as a regional intermodal gateway and mixed-use destination. It is expected to accommodate 10,000 daily boardings and will offer 10 modes of transportation upon opening.

STV, as part of a joint venture, was the program management consultant for this 67,000 square foot facility working as an extension of the City of Anaheim and in concert with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), project stakeholders and independent consultants assigned to ARTIC. STV’s services also included construction management. The joint venture team was comprised of STV, Tishman Construction Corp., and Harris & Associates.

The LEED Platinum designed transportation hub will increase mobility options for residents, local businesses, commuters and visitors to Anaheim, Orange County and the entire Southern California region from Los Angeles to San Diego.

Located near Interstate 5, and State Routes 57 (also known as the Orange Freeway), 22 (the Garden Grove Freeway) and 91 (the Artesia Freeway), adjacent to the Santa Ana River Trail, and between Honda Center and Angel Stadium of Anaheim, ARTIC will serve more than 20 million guests who visit Anaheim each year, including the 5.5 million sports fans and concert/entertainment attendees who visit the surrounding world-class venues annually.

Two events mark this opening: a Media Day and VIP Ribbon Cutting, which was held on Monday, December 8, and included local officials and representatives; and the Explore ARTIC Grand Opening Celebration taking place this upcoming Saturday, December 13, which is free and open to the media and community. This second event includes family-friendly interactive activities, bands, food trucks, crafts, displays and self-guided tours.

Since opening its doors more than 100 years ago, STV has become a leader in providing a range of programming and construction management, as well as planning, engineering, architectural, and environmental services for transportation, infrastructure, facilities and energy projects. The firm is ranked 42nd in Engineering News-Record’s Top 500 Design Firms survey and 7th in construction management by Building Design + Construction magazine’s survey of top construction firms.
