Ja-Mie Luey, P.E.Ja-Mie Luey, P.E., an experienced project manager who has played a key part in the development of multiple new light rail and transit systems throughout North and South America, has joined STV as a vice president and West Coast rail and transit systems lead. He will be based in Beaverton, OR, and will report directly to John Ponzio, P.E., STV vice president and national practice leader for systems, safety and security in the firm’s Transportation & Infrastructure Division.

Luey joins a group that for the past decade has continued to demonstrate strong and sustainable growth for STV. He will be responsible for technical excellence, project delivery and talent acquisition, and will work closely with the firm’s West Coast leadership.

“Throughout his career, Ja-Mie has exhibited a very pragmatic approach that serves him and his clients well,” Ponzio said. “His project experience spans a broad swath of locales and geographies, and also includes multiple design-build and fast-tracked initiatives.”

Prior to joining STV, Luey spent more than 15 years as a project and engineering manager for a large transportation design firm. There, he oversaw the systems design for multiple high-profile passenger rail initiatives, including the Airport MAX and I-205 light rail extensions in Portland, OR; the northwest and northeast extensions of the CTrain light rail in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; the Metro de Maracaibo light rail extension in Venezuela; the Houston METRORail light rail line in Houston, TX; and the RTD Central Platte Valley and Southwest Corridor light rail extensions in Denver, CO.

Luey is a licensed professional engineer in Oregon, Washington, California and 11 other U.S. states and territories. He earned his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Oregon State University.
