Melinda Johnson Joins STV as Vice President in Buildings & Facilities Division

STV is pleased to announce that Melinda Johnson, P.E., LEED AP, has joined the firm’s Buildings & Facilities (B&F) Division as a vice president and head of B&F’s New York operations. She will report directly to Jon Miller, AIA, LEED AP, executive vice president of the B&F Division.
Johnson, who has nearly 30 years of experience leading the design for a host of new construction and reconstruction initiatives throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, will oversee B&F project managers in New York.
“Melinda will work closely with our division’s senior level management,” Miller said. “She has led teams both large and small and has an established track record in implementing best practices for effective project management and performance.”
Prior to joining STV, Johnson was with a major international design and consulting firm for 10 years where she performed services related to project management, presentations, staff management, client maintenance and mechanical engineering. During that time, she helped develop and lead new mechanical/electrical/plumbing teams in Philadelphia and Chicago, in addition to supporting the design of a number of projects, primarily in the higher education and healthcare market sectors.
Some recent career highlights include serving as the engineering principal for the MEP design component of a new library at Temple University in Philadelphia; lead mechanical engineer for the Anatomy Teaching Library at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia; and mechanical engineering for the 949,000-square-foot East Campus Housing Complex at Binghamton University, State University of New York, in Binghamton, NY.
Johnson is a licensed professional engineer in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, Florida, Wisconsin, Utah and California. Additionally, she is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers, and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering & Surveying. She earned her Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Polytechnic University, New York, in New York City, and her Masters of Business Administration in finance from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY.
