South Bay Bus Maintenance Facility Expansion

Space at the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System’s South Bay Bus Maintenance Facility was limited, making it difficult to maneuver buses and perform required fueling, servicing, and operational tasks. The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) oversaw the $50 million design-build expansion and reconfiguration of the site to better accommodate bus service and storage, as well as parking for supervisor and staff vehicles.

STV provided architectural design and structural, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, as well as construction-phase support services and LEED® certification processing. The project included a new 49,000-square-foot high-bay maintenance building, 12,000-square-foot operations and administration building, and a two-bay bus wash building.
