Boston University Bridge Rehabilitation (Boston and Cambridge, MA)
The Boston University Bridge, built in 1928, has long served local and regional transportation needs in and around Boston and Cambridge. To help preserve the continued, long-term operation of this vital and historic structure, STV provided in-depth inspection, preliminary and final design (including structural, civil, and electrical design services), permitting, cost estimating, specifications and construction phase services for a $20 million rehabilitation. The project included a full deck replacement, superstructure repairs, abutment replacement, and upgrades to the lighting and drainage systems. The firm also developed design plans for the restoration of original historic bridge elements. The project earned a Cambridge Preservation Award from the Cambridge Historical Commission.
