Foley Square Courthouse Renovation, Courthouse Annex and Metropolitan Detention Center
Designed by Cass Gilbert in 1935, the Foley Square Courthouse in New York City is a historic landmark listed in the National Register of Historic Places. STV performed a complete rehabilitation of the existing courthouse as well as master planning, programming, and architectural services for a new seven-story office building for the U.S. Marshall’s offices and an 11-story federal detention center for 450 inmates, for the Bureau of Prisons. The project involved developing new courtroom layouts and designing furniture that suited the character and details of the building’s neoclassical interiors.
