North American Growth Project

One of the largest ethylene plants in the world is among the facilities in STV’s confidential client’s Baytown, Texas, complex, where that client is expanding its pipeline system to double the flow rate of ethylene to the company’s plastic plant in nearby Mont Belvieu. STV provided project management, Stage III front-end engineering design, and environmental permitting for the Phase II construction of 14 miles of new and modified pipeline to connect the Mont Belvieu and Baytown olefins facilities.

In total, the system comprised a new pipeline and approximately 40 existing pipelines that required new connections. The estimated $40 million project will double the flow rate of ethylene from 100,000 bpd to 200,000 bpd, resulting in a total increased flow rate of ethane to the Mont Belvieu plastic plant from 14 million bpd to 22 million bpd.
