After 45-years of service, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) diesel fleet had reached the end of its life expectancy and needed to be replaced. STV provided consultant services to the agency, aiding it in the procurement process of this new fleet, which in turn, allowed the LIRR to make a breakthrough in improving the quality of service for its customers. 

This procurement program consistered of 134 passenger cars, 23 diesel locomotives and 23 dual-mode locomotives. STV supported the LIRR in all aspects of this complex assignment, with an emphasis on design review, inspection, and in-service troubleshooting.
