Douglassville Employees Continue Local Volunteering Efforts with Habitat for Humanity
Nov 29, 2018
Employees in STV's Douglassville office continued their role as community advocates by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and United Way.
Lynne Schlesman, senior CAD technician; Gerry Donnelly, P.E., executive vice president of the Energy Services Division; and Brandon Mengel, engineering specialist, helped paint a three-story house in the area alongside a team from Pennsylvania-based truck rental company Penske. Habitat for Humanity hopes to donate the house and several others in the surrounding blocks to United States veterans.
“It’s the first time I’ve done anything with Habitat, and it was interesting to hear what they do,” Schlesman explained. “We actually finished early — we ran out of paint.”
Previously, the Douglassville United Way team has helped insulate houses for Habitat for Humanity as well as volunteer at their local ReStore, a thrift shop the organization runs to raise money and help Habitat for Humanity families find furniture and other home-related necessities.
