STV President & CEO, Milo Riverso, Ph.D., PE, CCM with Manhattan College students

A new soils mechanics laboratory at Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, is now on solid footing thanks to the generosity and design input from our firm. The lab, which serves civil and environmental engineering students at Manhattan’s prestigious School of Engineering, was financed almost entirely via the efforts of many of the college’s esteemed alumni, including our president and chief executive officer, Milo Riverso, Ph.D., P.E., CCM, who received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the school in 1981 and is a member of the college’s Board of Trustees.

“We had recognized that the soils lab was in need of a significant overhaul, so we helped raise money for the renovation through our annual Construction Industry Golf Outing,” said Milo, who serves as co-chair of the tournament’s committee.

Once the funding was raised, some of our employees, as well as alumni from other firms, contributed their design and construction expertise on a pro-bono basis. STV’s Shiroy Ranji, a senior associate in our Buildings & Facilities Division in New York, proposed a number of design sketches that were incorporated into final construction. Our firm also assisted with the overall project planning, providing design support and suggestions along the way.

During a recent tour of the completed project, engineering students – primarily juniors – thanked Milo and the STV community for all of the firm’s contributions in making this lab a reality.
