A transformative districtwide capital improvement program is now underway within the Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) in Fremont, CA, with support from California Construction Management, Inc. (CCM)/STV, a joint venture, providing construction management services.

CCM/STV was recently approved by the FUSD’s board to provide on-call construction management services related to the implementation of the $650 million Measure E bond program, which was approved by voters last year. The joint venture team received its first assignment at Irvington High School.

The far-reaching program addresses many urgent needs within the FUSD such as security, technology and capacity enhancement.

“STV has a long history in providing construction support for capital improvement programs in some of the largest school districts in the United States,” said Randall Duncan, LEED® AP, STV vice president, national program management in the firm’s Construction Management Division. “Together with CCM and its wealth of institutional knowledge of the California K-12 market sector, we strive to meet the needs of the critical program for the FUSD.”

“CCM specializes in the construction of K-12 educational facilities in California,” said John McGrew, CCM’s vice president of operations. “Our field personnel have extensive building experience, and with the depth and strength of STV, there is no service the CCM/STV team cannot provide.”

CCM/STV will provide project managers, construction managers, estimators, schedulers and document control specialists on technology infrastructure, science classroom technology, HVAC and lighting, alarm and communications, utility upgrades and new classrooms projects. The district will be executing these projects over the next six to eight years throughout its 29 elementary schools, five middle schools and five high schools.

About CCM: Founded in 2004, California Construction Management (CCM) has had an unbroken record of success. The officers and principals each have more than 30 years of experience as construction managers and general contractors. They have assembled a staff of highly-skilled professionals, most of whom worked with current CCM officers prior to the formation of the current company. CCM staff were pioneers in the rapid development of the multiple prime delivery method, and also successfully managed all delivery/purchasing methods, including lease-leaseback, general contractor and design-build.
