Rising StarsEvery year, the Eno Center for Transportation, a leading industry think tank, conducts its Transit Senior Executive Program: an immersive, six-day course led by veteran transit leaders from across the industry. In March, two STV employees participated in this highly competitive program, which gives participants the opportunity to explore and expand their leadership skills as they enter the next steps in their career.

Ali Mir, ENV SP, senior associate, and west region planning director, in our Los Angeles office is the leader of STV’s west region planning practice for light rail, high-speed rail, bus, and other multidisciplinary transportation projects. Among his recent accomplishments, he helped the firm get selected again to provide planning and environmental planning services as part of the California High-Speed Rail project. “With this experience, we hope to foster new relationships and strengthen our existing relationships in the region for larger contracts and projects for STV,” Mir said.

Lara Hegler, P.E., transportation director of operations, in our Fairfax office, has more than 20 years of career experience in the programming, planning, design, and construction of transit projects. One of her passions is supporting the creation of new bus rapid transit (BRT) systems, having worked on the Greater Richmond Transit Company Pulse design-build project. She is currently managing the development of the Route 1/Richmond Highway BRT system in Fairfax County, VA. “Assisting Fairfax County to implement its first BRT system has undeniably been my greatest leadership challenge but it has also been the most rewarding. I’m hoping to apply the knowledge in this program to the Route 1 project and other multimodal projects,” Hegler said.
