Girish Roy Joins STV as Vice President

LOS ANGELES, CA – Girish Roy, P.E., a project executive with more than 35 years of experience managing major transportation and public infrastructure projects, has joined STV as a vice president in Rancho Cucamonga.

In his new role, Roy will be responsible for helping to develop and manage major transportation projects throughout the United States with emphasis on the West Coast. Roy will oversee STV’s continued growth in the Los Angeles Basin, San Francisco/San Jose and Seattle markets.

For the past nine years, Roy has overseen the planning, preliminary engineering and construction management of a major $1.6 billion underground light rail transit corridor in Southern California, which is expected to provide commuters with a one-seat ride across Los Angeles County and connect to three new stations when it opens in 2021.

Earlier in his career, Roy oversaw the design of the Gold Line Eastside Extension light-rail project from Union Station to Atlantic Boulevard in Los Angeles, which entailed the preliminary engineering for the project that consisted of eight new stations, two of which were underground.

Roy is a registered professional engineer in California and is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, serving on the organization’s technical committee for Shotcrete design in tunnels.

As an adjunct professor at California State University, Fullerton and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona for the past 25 years, Roy has taught several construction management and other engineering courses. He earned a Bachelor of Science with honors in civil engineering from Jadavpur University and a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He completed course work for a Ph.D. at the Illinois Institute of Technology and completed the transportation leadership and management program at the University of California, Los Angeles’ Anderson Graduate School of Management.
