The five-mile Crystal City/Potomac Yard Corridor in Arlington, VA, has continued to grow, with 13,000 housing units and 8 million square feet of office and commercial space expected to be developed over the next several years. To serve this expected influx of commuters in Arlington County, the Crystal City Potomac Yard Transitway was developed within a two-way bus lane along an existing road in Arlington. STV provided construction engineering and inspection (CEI) for this $10.5 million project.

Seven new bus stations were constructed along the route, each with seating, real-time arrival information, elevated curbs for easier boarding, and canopies for weather protection. The project’s scope incorporated upgraded traffic signals, utility relocation, storm system improvements, road paving, signage, traffic maintenance, and landscaping, with all new infrastructure compatible with Arlington’s planned streetcar service.
