Delta Air Lines Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport

The new $4 billion Delta Air Lines Terminal C project is a critical part of the dramatic redevelopment effort at LaGuardia Airport (LGA). This massive endeavor will consolidate the airline’s operations into a new, 1.3-million-square-foot facility. The project entails the demolition of 600,000-square-feet of existing facilities. Once completed, Terminal C will consist of 37 flexibly sized aircraft gates distributed among four concourses connected by a centralized check-in lobby, security checkpoint, and baggage claim. Dual taxi lanes between the concourses will greatly improve airfield efficiency, resulting in reduced taxi time to and from the gate before take-off and after landing. The facility will offer larger gate areas and more seating, as well as doubling concession space over the existing facilities. There will also be direct access from LaGuardia’s East Parking Garage.

STV is part of a team of multiple firms representing Delta and managing the program in a multi-prime delivery approach. Delta holds the construction contracts and STV represents Delta as  construction management agent, providing a host of construction management services in the execution of the program’s 21 sub-projects, frequently amounting to in excess of $70 million of construction work in place per month.

STV, in joint venture, is performing project management, construction supervision, project controls, estimating, accounting, document control, design oversight and scheduling services, while also providing Building Information Modeling (BIM) expertise, and quality control, safety, and procurement support.

Key challenges include coordinating with other ongoing projects in the area, as well as facilitating construction work in an occupied facility. The team is also proactively managing all contractor activity during each construction phase.
