Forest County State Correctional Institution

During the preliminary design phase of the Forest County State Correctional Institution, STV delineated 26 acres of wetlands and an unnamed tributary to Scott Run on the site. To mitigate for unavoidable impacts to these aquatic resources, the firm coordinated with local, state, and federal resource agencies to provide design and permitting services for nine acres of wetland mitigation and relocate 2,800 feet of stream. Functions and values of the impacted aquatic habitat were duplicated in the relocated stream. STV continued to monitor the stream and wetland mitigation sites for five years.

With more than 700,000 square feet of prison facilities, the complex houses approximately 2,200 inmates in units of varying restriction levels. STV adapted the design from a Level-4 facility based on a prototype the firm previously designed for the Pennsylvania Department of General Services and updated for current codes and Pennsylvania Department of Corrections standards.
