STV is providing a range of planning and design services in support of the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Guiderail Replacement Program, which aims to replace sections of the state’s Midwest Guide Rail System – rails designed for high center of gravity vehicles. As part of this task order, STV was assigned to the southern region of the state and will provide a concept design replacement package that looks to replace sections of outdated guiderail at a faster rate than usual during traditional roadwork and pavement projects.

Under this program, STV evaluated more than 200 sections of guiderail under an aggressive five-month schedule. STV analyzed existing guiderail and location data and identified additional related issues along the route. The firm also collected traffic and crash data, coordinated with local law enforcement, and performed guiderail layout and location development and cost estimating services.
