To meet the needs of the New York City Department of Education’s implementation of universal pre-K, the New York City School Construction Authority was charged with identifying and converting existing office space into new pre-K facilities.

The Richmond Pre-K Center at Ebbitts Street project entailed retrofitting the entire two-story building to create 10 classrooms and all the accompanying amenities and support spaces needed. These spaces included a gymnasium, full kitchen, and administrative offices, along with offices for the custodian and the school’s nurse. To make the building compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a new elevator was installed.

As owner’s representative, STV coordinated with the project team and client to complete the work within an accelerated 180-day contract term. The project was completed on schedule and within budget.
