Spout Springs Widening

The Gainesville area in Hall County, GA, is currently one of the fastest-growing metropolitan regions in the country. Spout Springs Road — a rural, undivided two-lane roadway connecting Flowery Branch and Braselton — is a vital thoroughfare, lined with retailers, churches and schools. To help improve accessibility and enhance safety along Spout Springs Road, STV was contracted by the Hall County Department of Public Works to provide design services to widen the 6.1-mile corridor from two lanes to four. The improvements will also include a new sidewalk and a pedestrian/bicycle trail that will connect to other pathways in the region.

STV’s team designed provisions for a median to separate directions of travel, thereby reducing the number of left-turning or conflicting traffic movements that could result in traffic accidents. Plans for left-turn queuing will prohibit left-turning vehicles from through lanes, improving driver safety on the roadway.
