CHMembers of STV’s Philadelphia office recently banded together virtually to conduct a steps challenge and scavenger hunt as part of a fundraising effort to benefit the Penn State Health Children’s Hospital Four Diamonds Fund to fight childhood cancer.

By combining a traditional steps challenge with a fun scavenger hunt that emphasized outdoor engagement – including activities like walking on stilts and apple picking – the group raised about $1,800 for a cause that is near and dear to many of them.

“Several of us in the Philadelphia office are Penn State University (PSU) alumni, so it meant a lot for us to be able to raise money for this cause,” said engineering specialist Taylor Novitsky.

A 2019 PSU grad, Taylor has previously supported Four Diamonds through her involvement with THON, PSU’s student-run philanthropic organization (and the largest student-run charitable organization in the world).

“We use Microsoft Teams to interact and track the results for all the activities and even though we’re all working remotely, we were still able to maintain a sense of camaraderie,” said Autumn Gargiule, an engineering specialist in Philadelphia who helped organize and track the teams’ progress. “This was our second step challenge and we hope to keep going and keep exceeding our annual fundraising goals.”
