Upgrade of CNG Facility Equipment at College Point and Spring Creek Bus Depots

As part of a larger effort to reduce emissions throughout the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s New York City Transit bus system, STV provided design and construction support services for the upgrade of compressed natural gas (CNG) equipment at the College Point and Spring Creek Bus Depots, located in Queens and Brooklyn.

For the new 138,000-square-foot College Point Bus Depot maintenance facility, STV’s provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design services to accommodate a new fleet of compressed natural gas (CNG) fueled buses. The scope of work for the upgrade of the CNG facility included the removal and replacement of outdated CNG equipment, as well as a new office and storage trailer.

For the Spring Creek Bus Depot, in addition to the removal and replacement of older CNG equipment, the scope of work included the upgrade of a third compressor skid and construction of a new office and storage building. Design and construction were phased to avoid adversely impacting operations within the facility.
