West Haven Station

Increasing ridership on Metro-North Railroad’s New Haven Line, which connects New Haven, CT, to Grand Central Terminal in New York City, necessitated a new commuter railroad station in West Haven, CT. STV performed resident engineering and inspection and construction engineering and inspection services in support of this $83 million facility on behalf of the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The program included the construction of a 3,000-square-foot transit hub, high-level platforms along both sides of the 4-track main line, a pedestrian walkway across the tracks, and 5 miles of catenary and signal work. STV coordinated between Metro-North Railroad and the contractor to oversee daily quality control of all construction activities to verify that work was completed in accordance with all plans and specifications.

New station helps busy commuter railroad meet increasing demand.
