Howard Beach Subway Station

New York City Transit’s Howard Beach Station serves the Rockaway Line of the New York City subway system and connects to the Howard Beach Station of the John F. Kennedy International Airport’s AirTrain Light Rail System.

STV provided architectural and engineering design, as well as construction support services for this program. The design of the station uses the architectural vocabulary of an airport terminal, such as the extensive use of glass to provide natural light. For passenger comfort, the station is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer.

A vital hub in Queens that was designed to leverage the architectural vocabulary of an airport terminal.
