Boeing Conversion Project a Best of The Best

We are honored to announce that the Boeing Center South, Chinook H-47 Focus Factor Conversion Program in Ridley Township, PA, was recently selected by Engineering NewsRecord (ENR) magazine as its “Best of the Best” in the Manufacturing Category. Submitted by STV/Ballinger A&E, the project originally won the ENR MidAtlantic Best Project Award in the regional competition, also in the Manufacturing Category. STV was construction manager and owner’s representative on the project, and Ballinger was the lead design firm.

Spurred by increasing demand for the H-47 Chinook heavy-lift military helicopter, Boeing Philadelphia developed a vision for a converted H-47 “focused factory” to increase efficiency in the production of Chinook helicopters. The five-year program transformed an 85-year-old industrial production complex into a state-of-the-art facility without disruption to vital 24-hour, seven-day-week, continuous assembly operations as production rates were increasing.
