STV Celebrates Major Construction Milestone at Nation’s Largest Offshore Wind Manufacturing Facility

Manufacturing Facility on the Delaware River Will Bring Local Renewable Energy in Phase II of Construction

STV, an infrastructure-focused, award-winning professional firm, joined EEW American Offshore Structures (EEW-AOS) and Ørsted for the delivery of the first nine monopile segments at their new factory at the Port of Paulsboro Marine Terminal in Gloucester County, New Jersey.

The arrival of the Vessel, the HLV Fair Partner, marks a major milestone for the second phase of construction of the EEW-AOS monopile manufacturing facility located on the Delaware River across from the Philadelphia International Airport. This facility, the first of its kind in the United States, will be used to assemble monopiles – giant cylindrical supports for wind turbines.

STV, a leader in construction management (CM), is providing the preliminary designs and mechanical/electrical bridge documents for Phase II of the roll bending, plate preparation and segment welding buildings at the facility. This includes calculations for the heating and cooling loads of all three buildings; mechanical layouts; and schematics for electrical loads, water, compressed air and other system requirements. 

“This development is crucial to the New Jersey tri-state area,” said Tim Mason, vice president and business unit leader for STV’s CM in the Northeast region. “New Jersey has been on the forefront of wind energy for a very long time. STV’s skillset and resources are an ideal match to enhance the area’s industry prowess.”

“This project is a collaborative effort,” said Andy Munter, CCM and senior project manager. “It’s a multi-division opportunity to highlight our combined areas of expertise into one signature project.”

STV has a long-standing history of serving the region’s buildings and industrial structures for capital improvement programs. Across the river from the EEW-AOS project site, STV performed Program and Construction Management services for the Boeing Center South, Chinook H-47 Focus Factory Conversion Program and comprehensive technical pre-planning and OPM services for their V-22 Osprey Future Factory Conversion’s design/bid/build project. The firm also provided design services for a Joint Base Cape Code Wind Turbine project for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center and the Princeton Municipal Light Department Wind Energy project.
