NEW YORK, NY – Tertulien “Tony” Augustin, P.E., a civil engineer and project manager with a wealth of expertise in urban transportation and infrastructure planning and design, has been promoted to vice president of STV.
Augustin, a 30-year industry veteran, joined STV in 2017 as the firm’s civil/highway engineering director. He has worked for several major engineering and consulting firms and, earlier in his career, served as an assistant commissioner and chief traffic officer for New York City’s Department of Transportation. In his current role, Augustin has led the $40 million reconstruction of Wyckoff Avenue between Brooklyn and Queens and the redesign of an urban park in the Hunt’s Point section of the Bronx to improve traffic and pedestrian safety.
He is the lead civil engineer for the second phase of the Second Avenue Subway, which will extend New York City Transit’s Q Line from 96th Street to 125th Street in East Harlem. STV is providing planning, architectural, civil, structural, systems and other services as part of a joint venture team responsible for the design of the 1.6-mile extension.
Augustin earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in transportation and engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University. He is a licensed engineer in New York and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Municipal Engineers of the City of New York and the New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSPE).
Over the past 20 years, he has been dedicated to mentoring young engineers. He has worked as an adjunct professor of transportation engineering at the City College of New York and State University of New York Maritime College and he continues to serve as a program evaluator at City College.
