Ameerah Palacios, APR, director of engagement at STV, has been selected to serve as a Delegate-at-Large for the Water Environment Federation (WEF) House of Delegates.
The House of Delegates serves as WEF’s representative leadership body, with delegates providing member perspectives, advising on strategic priorities and helping connect WEF’s initiatives with the needs of the broader water sector.
During the three-year national appointment, Palacios will build and activate a constituency of water communications, storytelling, and public trust professionals in support of the House of Delegates WEF’s Public Communications and Outreach community and WEF’s strategic plan. Through partnerships, listening sessions and shared storytelling tools, she will help WEF, its member associations and clean water professionals change perceptions, influence behaviors, and strengthen public understanding of treatment, sanitation, stormwater and watershed management.
“Technical expertise is essential, but lasting progress depends on our ability to connect that expertise to the people and communities we serve,” Palacios said. “By amplifying water stories through clear communication, meaningful engagement and authentic storytelling, we can build trust, inspire action and strengthen a more connected and informed water community equipped to lead boldly and meet the challenges ahead.”
The WEF House of Delegates appointment builds on Palacios’ broader industry leadership, including service on the American Water Works Association’s Public Affairs Council and Rogue Water’s Advisory Leadership Council. Through those roles, she has helped advance conversations around strategic communications, public education, customer experience and community trust-building across the water sector.
