Annual United Way Fundraiser a Virtual Success

Published

Employees in STV’s Douglassville office recently took part in an annual fundraiser to support two local chapters of the United Way organization in Berks County and Greater Philadelphia. Despite having to conduct this year’s fundraiser online for the first time, the team raised more than $12,500 in pledges.

The drive was run in part by Carol Leh, Douglassville librarian and campaign coordinator. Due to safety concerns over COVID-19, United Way allowed for a digital, socially distanced fundraiser format for the first time. United Way’s goals for 2020 included supporting food pantries, providing personal protective equipment, and helping to secure local grants through the Berks Covid-19 Response Fund.

“We didn’t set a goal as we normally do.” Leh said. “But people were so generous and quick to respond. It was very inspiring.”
