STV’s Lake Oswego, OR, team kicked off 2024 by giving back to their local community. The group assembled 40 winter care kits for Blanchet House, a nonprofit social services organization that supports people experiencing homelessness in Portland, OR, by providing food, clothing and supportive housing programs.

“We’re proud to help out Blanchet House and our local communities who are facing harsh winters without shelter,” said Bryan Williams, vice president and Pacific Northwest area manager.   “We assembled kits with crucial items, including emergency blankets, socks, hats, gloves and hand warmers.”

Blanchet House regularly distributes its care kits during its daily meal services, which typically include blankets, basic toiletries and snacks. During the winter, though, the organization seeks vital items that help keep people safe and warm.

According to the 2022 U.S. Census, Oregon has the highest rate of chronic homelessness in the country. For the many unhoused people living in Portland, Blanchet House serves as a lifeline; most recently, the organization provided a warming shelter and winter coats during a frigid storm.

The winter care kits that STV’s Lake Oswego team assembled will be distributed to the organization’s community in the coming weeks.

STV’s volunteers included: Stephen Spratt, Lauren Ormerod, Leigh Raderschadt, Aimee Palomino, Zoey Bourgazas, Nick Adams, Ian Fabik, Leif Nordstrom, Michelle Veri and Adrienne Lindsey.
