STV, alongside the City of Acworth, Georgia, marked a major milestone with the completion of Phase I improvements at Cauble Park, delivering a long-term master plan to transform parkland around Lake Acworth into a more accessible, community-focused destination.

STV provided survey, engineering, hydrology and construction management services, supporting the project from initial site evaluation through construction completion. This full-lifecycle involvement enabled the team to work closely with the City of Acworth and other stakeholders to translate long-term planning goals into a finished community asset.

Covering approximately three acres, Phase I transformed the outdated park into a modern, more functional space for residents and visitors. Because the park is located on property overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’, the project required careful coordination and adherence to federal standards. The team worked within the constraints of a 100-year floodplain, completing grading without importing fill while still meeting the city’s functional and experiential goals for the space. Throughout design and construction, the team focused on how residents and families would use the park day to day, selecting durable materials and site features intended to support long-term use and flexibility as future phases of the master plan take shape.

Easily accessible from downtown Acworth, the revitalized park features two new pavilions, shaded picnic areas, open lawn space designed to accommodate community events and concerts and 12-foot-wide walking trails that connect surrounding neighborhoods to the waterfront.

“From the start, the goal was to create a space that feels safe, accessible and welcoming for everyone in the community,” said Ken Hammon, PE, senior engineer at STV. “Being able to stand at the ribbon cutting and see families already using the park is a powerful reminder of why this work matters – and of the impact thoughtful planning and collaboration can have over the long term.”

With Phase I complete, STV’s work has established a strong foundation for future improvements outlined in the city’s broader master plan, helping position the park for continued expansion, connectivity and long-term community use.

“Cauble Park is a great example of how thoughtful infrastructure and community-focused design can work hand in hand,” said Rhandi Gallegos, PE, LEED AP, M.Jd., vice president and Georgia area manager at STV. “The collaboration between the city, the Corps of Engineers and our project team helped position this project for continued success as future phases move forward.”
