Frank Pepe, Jr., P.E. Joins STV as SVP, National Director, Tunneling and Geotechnical Engineering

CHATTANOOGA, TN – Frank Pepe, Jr., P.E., has joined STV as a senior vice president and national director to lead the firm’s newly established tunneling and geotechnical engineering group.

“Frank is a tremendous talent and nationally recognized leader with decades of hands-on experience, and I am excited that he will be leading STV’s newest national practice,” said Rich Amodei, STV executive vice president. “Frank will be a transformative addition to our team, melding existing in-house expertise with new talent to expand the tunneling and geotechnical services we provide to our clients throughout North America.” 

With an extensive portfolio of major, complex projects throughout the U.S. and abroad, Pepe brings to STV nearly 40 years of experience in geotechnical, foundation, and tunnel design, as well as ground improvement projects for transit, transportation, water, bridge, tunnel, and marine facilities. Prior to joining STV, he was with a multi-national engineering firm as its geotechnical and tunneling market leader. He recently served as the deputy project manager for heavy civil and tunnels for the design of Phase 2 of New York City Transit’s Second Avenue Subway.

Over the years, Pepe has led teams and served clients on projects throughout the country, including the Northeast, New Mexico, Arizona, Minnesota, and Texas. He also has international experience in Taiwan, Turkey, and Venezuela. His recent projects include major initiatives for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Notably, he led geotechnical and tunnel engineering efforts for the construction of the iconic World Trade Center Transportation Hub in Lower Manhattan. He also served as lead geotechnical engineer for the design for the Bayonne Bridge “Raising the Roadway” project as part of the Bayonne Bridge Navigational Clearance Program.

Pepe received both his Bachelor of Science in engineering and his Master of Science in civil engineering from Syracuse University and is a registered Professional Engineer in New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Michigan. He is a member of the Moles, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the American Society of Testing and Materials.
