Two members of STV’s infrastructure economics team were recently selected to join prestigious industry organizations dedicated to improving public transportation and land use practices.
Patricia Macchi, vice president and STV’s national director of infrastructure economics, was selected for the 2025-2027 cohort for the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) while Thomas Redstone, AICP, an STV senior economist, has joined the New York Chapter of Lambda Alpha International (LAI).
The TCRP provides solution-based research to the public transportation industry, including reports and products. Recent reports developed by the TCRP include an analysis of microtransit programs in rural Massachusetts and a case study on integrating an asset management program for Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.
“I’m honored to serve as an ambassador alongside this very dynamic, passionate and diverse group,” Macchi said. “The TCRP works to help our public transportation clients overcome some of their toughest challenges. This is inspiring and important work for our industry.”
LAI was originally established in 1930 to help foster the study of land economics. Now with 25 chapters in North America, Europe and Asia, LAI’s membership – which is chosen by invitation – includes architects, engineers, real estate developers, planners, government officials and other stakeholders to help advance the principles of land economics within the public and private sectors.
“Being a member of LAI provides me the unique opportunity to connect with other economists representing a broad cross-section of the clients and stakeholders we work with,” Redstone said. “The New York chapter provides members with a wealth of informational resources and events that are certain to help shape how our infrastructure economics team can serve our clients.”
