STV’s Parisa Hosseini, an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) engineering specialist in Texas, was recently appointed to leadership positions at two Dallas/Fort Worth-area industry organizations.
Hosseini will serve as the director of programs for Young Professionals in Transportation (YPT) Dallas-Fort Worth and chair of the outreach and advocacy committee for the Dallas Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).
Both posts provide Hosseini with the ability to leverage her mobility technologies expertise to provide educational and mentoring opportunities to other early career professionals and future transportation professionals still in school.
YPT Dallas-Fort Worth is a nonprofit coalition that focuses on professional development, fellowship and networking for individuals in the transportation industry within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. As YPT’s director of programs, Hosseini is responsible for planning and coordinating the organization’s professional development and networking events – including speaker panels, technical tours and workshops. These events will provide early career professionals with unique opportunities to engage with other industry leaders and build valuable connections.
The ITE is an international educational and scientific association of transportation professionals that facilitates the application of technology and scientific principles to research, planning, design, implementation, operation, policy development and management for all modes of ground transportation. The Dallas Section covers communities in Dallas and Collin counties. As outreach and advocacy committee chair, Hosseini is leading efforts to expand STEM outreach to K-12 schools through educational programs and interactive events. She will also work with current members to keep them informed of key industry issues, polices and regulations that may impact the transportation profession.
“I’m incredibly excited to work with both of these esteemed organizations to better foster collaboration and education with the industry’s emerging professionals, as well as future professionals in K-12,” Hosseini said. “I also hope to be able to recruit new members so that both organizations remain an active and influential voice in the industry.”
