The New York region’s newest icon – Delta Air Lines’ Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in Queens – has been recognized by both the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) and ACEC’s national chapter as one of the best projects in the nation.

The transformative project received an Empire Award from ACEC New York, signifying it as the best overall project in the state at this year’s Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA). Additionally, LGA’s Terminal C is one of eight Grand Award winners at ACEC’s national EEA and is now in the running to receive the vaunted Grand Conceptor Award at ACEC’s EEA Gala Dinner and Awards Program – aka, the “Academy Awards of the engineering industry” – on June 13 in Washington, D.C.

STV, in joint venture with Satterfield & Pontikes (S&P), and in partnership with Turner Construction and Group PMX, served as Delta’s construction manager-as-agent for the project, which is part of the larger $8 billion redevelopment at the airport. STV/S&P’s construction and program management team provided a full array of services in the execution of 21 sub-projects for the new 457,00-square-foot headhouse, Concourse E, and reimagined road network, which opened last June.

“I am so proud of the team,” said Luis Delgado, CCM, PMP, president of the national CM group. “The impact of the team’s hard work will be felt for years to come by travelers coming to New York City. This project also showcases the kind of work STV/S&P, and our partners including Turner Construction and Group PMX, can do for our clients. Congratulations to Delta for this amazing honor and thank you to all of our team members for their dedication.”
