Luis Delgado, CCM, PMP, president of STV’s Program/Construction Management group, was formally sworn in as chair of the national Construction Management Association of America’s (CMAA) board of directors at the industry’s organization’s annual meeting held recently in San Francisco, CA.
Delgado, who has been actively engaged in CMAA for over 20 years, will serve as chair for the 2024-2025 cycle. He takes on the role at a time of extraordinary growth within CMAA and the PM/CM profession at large.
“It is with immense pride and excitement that I stand before you today, ready to serve as your next board chair,” Delgado said during CMAA’s awards banquet and ceremony. “This moment marks a significant milestone in my personal journey. I want to begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for entrusting me with this incredible responsibility. I accept it with deep honor and the highest sense of duty.”
Speaking about how technology is presently shaping the PM/CM industry, Delgado outlined that his vision over the next year is to “harness the power of these technological advancements – whether it’s cutting-edge tools, platforms or innovative approaches – to revolutionize the way we deliver professional program and construction management services.”
Established in 1982, CMAA represents more than 23,000 individual members from the PM/CM industry, including federal/state/local government and private sector owners, construction consultants, technology suppliers, academia and legal organizations.
This year’s CMAA annual conference set a record for attendance according to the organization’s Immediate Past Chair, Khaled Naja, PE, CCM, NAC. Additionally, over the past 12 months, CMAA has seen record growth in CMCI certifications, its largest group of the College of Fellow, expanded publications and resources, new industry tools, a roadmap for the organization’s growth internationally and several other accomplishments.
“CMAA is stronger than ever, and I encourage each of you to stay engaged and continue contributing to the association’s success,” Naja said.
In addition to Delgado’s chairmanship, the conference also acknowledged several of its regional chapters and their leaders. That includes CMAA North Texas, which earned a “Chapter of the Year” honor for chapters with 400-699 members. STV’s Kristen McElroy, a project controls specialist, is the immediate past president of the chapter.
