Marian Barth, PE, area manager for STV’s transportation team in Massachusetts, has been appointed to the Northeastern University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Industrial Advisory Board.

The board comprises leaders from government and industry who provide guidance on research, curriculum development, cooperative education, and other initiatives that support the department’s mission.

As a member of the advisory board, Barth will work alongside public- and private-sector leaders to help align engineering education with the evolving needs of the transportation and infrastructure industry while strengthening the connection between academia and practice.

“As a Northeastern alum, this appointment feels like a full-circle opportunity to give back to the university. My experience in Northeastern’s co-op program led me to STV, and this role gives me an opportunity to help strengthen the connection between academia and industry,” Barth said. “We are at a critical time of change in our industry, and I look forward to working with fellow board members to help prepare the next generation of professionals while continuing to learn from their perspectives and experiences.”

Barth’s selection for the board reflects her longstanding leadership in the transportation industry and her contributions to some of the region’s most significant transit, bridge, resiliency and rail programs.

As STV’s area manager in Massachusetts, Barth oversees the firm’s transportation business across the commonwealth and leads multidisciplinary teams serving clients including the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport).
