Justin Humenny, PE, PTOE, RSP1, an engineer in our Owings Mills, MD, office, was recently honored by our client, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (SHA), as a “Consultant of the Year” for his long-standing dedication and exemplary service to the state.

For the past seven years, Humenny has supported various highway/roadway improvement projects as an on-site consultant with SHA’s Office of Traffic & Safety Traffic Engineering Design Division – including serving as a team leader for several districts. Projects include traffic signal system design and modifications; signing and pavement marking design; highway lighting design; and ITS design.

Humenny has also been heavily involved in the Interstate-695 Traffic System Management Operations project in Baltimore County, which is a component of the larger highway improvement program to ease congestion and improve safety operations along the heavily traveled I-695 corridor.

The past seven years have offered Justin a unique perspective on serving the client, while still performing the professional services that make Maryland communities better.

“This role allows me to partner directly with our clients at SHA to keep multiple projects moving forward,” Hummeny said. “It’s very rewarding to work with the state in this fashion and I really enjoy seeing this partnership result in these vital highway/roadway projects making a difference in the cities and communities they serve.”
