New 34,000-square-foot Church Designed by STV Opens in Argyle, Texas

DALLAS, TX – STV, a leading professional services firm that plans, designs and manages infrastructure projects across North America, today celebrated the completion of a new 34,000-square-foot building for St. Mark Catholic Church in Argyle, Texas. STV was the lead designer and architect-of-record for the new building, which will serve more than 1,850 parishioners.

Designed to align with the other Spanish mission style buildings on the campus, the new structure is now the largest in the Fort Worth Catholic Diocese. The design includes a hand-painted dome ceiling and hand-built mosaics imported from Italy. The structure also incorporates a Variable Air Volume (VAV) cooling system and Insulated Concrete Forms to provide energy efficient heating and cooling for the space. Unlike standard systems, which supply a constant airflow at a variable temperature, VAV systems vary the airflow at a constant or varying temperature, allowing for more control and containment from room to room.

“STV’s design epitomizes our dedication to crafting spaces that meet current community needs while also designing for the future,” said J.J. Roohms, P.E., president of the Texas/Mountain region’s transportation group at STV. “The impact extends far beyond its physical structure, providing a place of fellowship for the community.”

STV has been a partner of St. Mark’s since the Parish moved to their current location in 2012. As part of the Parish’s capital campaign and revitalization plan, STV was the architect-of-record for the Parish Activity Center (which served as a temporary worship space during construction of the new sanctuary) and religious education building.

STV has a long history of providing architectural and design services in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for faith-based organizations. The firm provided master planning and architectural services for St. William Catholic Church in Round Rock, Texas, and has eight separate projects with Heart of Texas Goodwill, including new and renovated retail stores, donation centers, community centers and childcare locations. STV is also the trusted team behind many of the new highways and transit systems in Dallas-Fort Worth including IH 35, IH 30 and IH 20 to DART’s multi-modal facilities.
