STV’s program management and construction management (PM/CM) team is celebrating a recent award given to a new New York City School Construction Authority 3K facility in the fast-growing neighborhood of Corona, Queens.

The Corona 3K Center was recently awarded a 2024 Commendation Design Award from the Brooklyn Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in the Rapid Adaptive Reuse category. As part of a larger task order with NYCSCA, STV performed a range of PM/CM services for the new 3K school.

To deliver the school, a partially constructed commercial building was renovated to incorporate high-performance infrastructure and nurturing learning spaces. Under an aggressive schedule, STV supported the adaptive reuse of the structure to develop layouts that met New York City’s school standards.

The school includes seven classrooms on two floors, a medical room, administrative space and parents’ lounge as well as a kitchen and padded playroom.
