Owings Mills Team Hosts Activity-Packed Day for Future Engineers

Our Owings Mills, MD, team recently celebrated Engineers Week by hosting Take Your Kid to Work Day. The event was attended by 21 children and featured several hands-on activities related to engineering, including an egg drop challenge and “plan a town” and “build a cookie building” projects.

“We had a great time hosting our coworkers’ children,” said Kelly Misner, PE, PTOE, RSP. “It was so rewarding to see their enthusiasm during the activities throughout the day. The creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving these young kids displayed during the various activities was a joy to watch, and I think adults and kids alike went home tired after a long, fun day.”

In addition to the hands-on activities, the attendees also took part in a scavenger hunt, during which they used a map to find stations throughout the office where they learned more about what engineers, architects, and other STV professionals do.

“My son was so excited to spend the whole day at STV,” said Elizabeth Kanner. “He greeted everyone with an enthusiastic ‘good morning coworkers!’ and can’t wait to come back.”
