Carol Rose, PMP, STV senior associate and senior engineering operations manager, was recently named the first female president in the history of the Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia (ECP), while Helene Brennan, P.E., PMP, LEED AP BD+C, senior associate and senior engineer, will serve on the organization’s board.
“I’m honored to serve as president,” said Rose, who previously served as an ECP board member, director of treasurer and is also a past president of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS). “It’s exciting to know that I’m connected to some of our former members, including Thomas Edison.”
As part of Rose’s two-year term, she will lead the organization and work with its board to determine strategic goals and develop an action plan. She will also support ECP’s existing priorities as it assesses membership, increases collaboration with affiliate engineering organizations and engineering awareness, and develops programs and events.
Brennan, who is also a member of WTS, the American Society of Highway Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Delaware Valley Engineers’ Week Planning Committee, was nominated to the ECP board by STV Senior Vice President and Business Unit Leader Chris Holliday, P.E., a past ECP president.
“It’s exciting, and I’m really proud to represent Philadelphia,” said Brennan, who will also foster organization membership in her role. “As part of the Engineers’ Week committee, we saw that some engineers are more active than others, and the ECP wants to recruit members from societies and groups that were previously not active with the club.”
Established in 1877, ECP is one of the oldest professional clubs in the nation and boasts several prestigious past members including Edison and Herbert Hoover.
