STV employees once again gathered on the tarmac at Raleigh‑Durham International Airport (RDU) to support the 2026 Special Olympics Plane Pull, continuing a tradition of engagement in the North Carolina‑based community event.

The Plane Pull brings participants onto RDU’s airfield to work together to move a commercial aircraft along the tarmac as quickly as possible. Teams of seven compete to pull a plane 25 feet, turning the event into a test of strength, coordination and cooperation.

STV’s 2026 team includes Michael Carter, Justin Plute, Kristin White, Neal Paschel, Grace Sullivan, Karen Haas and Dylan Downes– representing a range of roles and experience levels.

In addition to fielding a team, STV also sponsored this year’s Plane Pull, supporting the event’s organization and operations. Sponsorship reflects STV’s continued engagement with community‑based initiatives in North Carolina and its interest in sustaining long‑standing relationships with local organizations and partners.

The setting at RDU adds a distinctive dimension for STV employees whose work intersects with aviation and transportation infrastructure. Participating in a community event within an active airport environment offers a different perspective on the space, separate from project delivery and day‑to‑day responsibilities.

“Pulling a plane together is about as literal as teamwork gets,” said Michael Carter, vice president and area manager for STV’s program management and construction management group at STV. “For our team, this event is a chance to support the Special Olympics while showing up alongside our colleagues in a way that’s physical, collaborative and rooted in the community where we work.
