STV team hosting students in partnership with the Salvadori Center

STV’s New York team recently partnered with the Salvadori Center to host a career development event for students from the Claremont International High School in the Bronx.

The Salvadori Center is an esteemed organization in New York City that offers K-12 students hands-on, project-based lessons that are tied to the built environment. The center’s approach aligns with STV’s commitment to promoting education in science, technology, engineering, arts/architecture, and math (STEAM) disciplines in the communities we serve.

The event was part of the Salvadori Center’s annual STEAM education summer program, which aims to engage students from public schools who show an interest in pursuing careers in architecture and engineering. STV’s team of volunteers worked with 24 students and two educators to show them the diverse world of engineering disciplines while offering insights into the firm’s recent projects, such as the remarkable Newark Liberty International Airport Terminal A and the Second Avenue Subway Phase II.

STV has a long-standing relationship with the Salvadori Center. Christopher Cerino, P.E., F.SEI, DBIA, vice president and technical director of structural engineering, urbanism, and planning, currently serves on the center’s Board of Directors. Additionally, Senior Systems Engineer Danielle LaFrance, P.E., PMP, is part of the organization’s Emerging Leaders Advisory Group, which supports the Salvadori Center through fundraising and volunteer activities. The recent event at STV was organized by LaFrance in collaboration with Project Manager Alexandra Chamandy-Cook, P.E., and Structural Engineer Matthew Sangen, P.E., S.E.

“At STV, we are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the Salvadori Center, and events like these reaffirm our commitment to building a brighter future through education, inspiration, and the power of STEAM,” LaFrance said. “We look forward to more collaborative endeavors to foster a passion for innovation and creativity among young minds across various communities.”
