Seattle Center Selects STV to Manage Monorail Upgrades

SEATTLE, WA – STV, a leading professional services firm that plans, designs and manages infrastructure projects across North America, today announced that the Seattle Center selected the firm to provide program management/construction management (PM/CM) services for procurement, ADA upgrades, safety improvements and architectural enhancements at the Seattle Center Monorail terminal stop for the 74-acre campus. 

STV will develop General Contractor/Construction Manager (GC/CM) procurement strategies and provide preconstruction support, including Request for Qualifications document creation, bid evaluation, contract negotiation, risk management, cost analysis as well as budget and schedule reconciliation. The firm will coordinate compliance with Federal Transit Administration requirements and work closely with the Seattle Center project manager to deliver the project within these federal guidelines.

The 0.9-mile monorail system, originally built for the 1962 World’s Fair, travels along 5th Avenue and connects downtown Seattle with Seattle Center; the train departs approximately every 10 minutes. Seattle Center Monorail is a major tourist attraction; it’s Seattle Center Station is adjacent to the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, Climate Pledge Arena, as well as Memorial Stadium. It’s Westlake Station is located at 5th Avenue and Pine Street, close proximity to Pike Place Market, the Seattle Convention Center, and all major downtown hotels. Seattle Center Monorail carries over two million passengers each year.
