Michael Nicoletta, AIA, senior architect at STV, was recently selected to serve on the New York City Department of Building’s (DOB) newly established Waterfront Code Technical Committee.
In recognition of the ongoing and significant impact all development along the city’s waterfront has on New York’s larger built environment, DOB recently formed this new committee to develop, adopt, and implement a code specifically for waterfront construction. This new code will standardize design, construction, and maintenance requirements for non-building typologies on waterfront property, such as coastal structures, retaining structures, elevated platforms, floating elements, and protective structures. Buildings on waterfront property will continue to be governed by the NYC Building Code. Nicoletta will participate on the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection sub-committee, commencing later this summer.
“It is an honor to be invited to participate in the development of New York City’s first-ever Waterfront Code, and to be recognized for my expertise and experience participating on past DOB Code Rewrite Committees,” Nicoletta said. “I look forward to contributing to this important process and representing STV.”
