DALLAS, TX – STV, a professional services firm that plans, designs and manages infrastructure projects across North America, today announced a partnership agreement with Louisiana-based Trigon Associates, LLC, through the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Mentor Protégé Program (SBAMPP) to bolster support for local businesses. In this partnership, STV will serve as a mentor to Trigon, an economically disadvantaged women-owned small business (EDWOSB).
SBA’s Mentor Protégé Program leverages the experience of mentor organizations to foster the development of protégé businesses to expand their capacity and enable more small businesses to compete for government contracts. While the U.S. federal government spent more than $600 billion on goods and services in FY 2021, the share of total federal procurement dollars going to small, women-owned business is only 4.6%. Contract assistance programs like the SBAMPP help close the gap and level the playing field for small businesses by bringing more opportunities and equity to historically underutilized local businesses.
“We are excited to participate in this invaluable program, which aligns with our commitment to the Equity in Infrastructure Project,” said J.J. Roohms, P.E., president of STV’s Texas/Mountain Region. “Through this partnership, we can impart our knowledge and share resources to help support our partners and advance equity in projects across communities in Texas and beyond.”
Trigon provides professional full-service engineering, consulting and construction management services for a wide range of utility and public infrastructure work. The partnership between STV and Trigon was first established organically through networking and teaming arrangements over the past several years before growing into an official agreement through the SBAMPP. The partnership includes a range of technical, management and support services, as well as training and knowledge sharing. The agreement also allows both firms to establish a Joint Venture for future business opportunities.
“Trigon is delighted to partner with STV on this important endeavor,” said Michelle Herbert, chief executive officer of Trigon. “This partnership will allow us to continue to improve our firm’s business processes, strengthen our capacity and expand our footprint while leveraging our collective strength to bolster our support for communities across the nation.”
STV has a long history of partnering with economically disadvantaged businesses to enhance their ability to compete on large, complex infrastructure projects. A joint venture between STV and AZ&B was awarded a contract to perform professional services at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, exemplifying STV’s ability and commitment to supporting and growing local minority-owned businesses. Additionally, STV signed the Equity in Infrastructure Project (EIP) Pledge in 2022, becoming one of the first architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) firms to commit to advancing equity in infrastructure.
