STV is celebrating alongside its partners after two projects the firm contributed to were recognized in Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) 2025 Regional Best Projects Awards. The Metropolitan Hospital Flood Resiliency Project in New York earned top honors in the Water/Environment category, while the Plane Train Tunnel West Extension at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport received an Award of Merit in the Airport/Transit category.

Located in East Harlem, the Metropolitan Hospital Flood Resiliency Project was recognized by ENR East as the Best Project in the Water/Environment category. This effort is also eligible to compete in ENR’s national Best of the Best Projects program.

STV served as the project manager/construction manager for the program, which strengthened the hospital’s critical infrastructure against future storm surges and extreme weather events while essential healthcare services remained uninterrupted during construction. Designed by Stantec and JFK&M Consulting Group, the program included new 8-to-12-foot-high floodwalls that are up to 45 feet wide, allowing the hospital to withstand a one-in-500-year storm event.

In the ENR Texas & Southeast region, the Plane Train Tunnel West Extension received an Award of Merit in the Airport/Transit category.

The extension is part of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport’s long-term expansion program and increases the capacity of the Plane Train automated people mover system, improving passenger circulation at the world’s busiest airport. STV served as the lead architect as a subconsultant to Delve Underground on the Clark Construction/Atkinson Construction/Technique Construction Group design-build team. STV designed renovations to the existing Plane Train terminus station, including a new multi-level west vertical transportation core featuring increased vertical circulation element capacity.
