NEW YORK, NY – STV, a leader in engineering, architectural, planning and program and construction management services, earned awards for six of its projects both nationally and regionally from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for project work that is creating a transformative impact on communities across the United States.
Two STV projects will be honored by ACEC with National Recognition Awards: World Trade Center Vehicular Security Center (VSC) in New York City and Sanitary Sewer Improvements on Rental Car Road at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, NC. Those awards will be presented at ACEC’s 2022 Engineering Excellence Awards Gala Dinner and Awards Program on May 24 in Washington, D.C.
For the VSC, Liberty Security Partners (LSP), a joint venture of STV and AECOM, designed a one-of-a-kind below-grade security checkpoint and bus parking garage for screening cars, trucks and buses before they enter the World Trade Center site in lower Manhattan. LSP provided a full suite of architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, geotechnical, structural, civil, traffic, security, radio and communication services for the $518 million VSC. The project also won a Diamond Award in the Special Projects category from ACEC New York.
In Charlotte, STV was contracted to perform design services at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) that would increase the capacity of CLT’s sanitary sewer system. These improvements are projected to meet the airport’s needs for the next 25 years and were constructed without adversely impacting airport operations. The nearly $6 million project was successfully completed on schedule through detailed planning and continuous coordination with multiple stakeholders. The project also won a Grand Award in the Special Projects category from ACEC North Carolina.
“ACEC is the voice of the engineering industry and its Engineering Excellence Awards program celebrates our profession’s top achievements,” said Greg Kelly, P.E., STV president and chief executive officer. “We are incredibly proud that ACEC has recognized our team for its hard work and dedication to helping make generational changes in the communities we serve.”
Other STV projects recognized by state/regional ACEC chapters include:
- Vista Ridge Regional Supply Project (VRRSP), which won the ACEC Texas Project of the Year award, as well as the Water/Wastewater Project of the Year award. The design-build team consisted of CP&Y, an STV Company; Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc.; and Garney Construction. At the time of completion, the VRRSP was the largest public-private partnership (P3) water project in North America. The project consists of a well field in Burleson County, three booster pump stations, four ground storage tanks, and a 142-mile transmission pipeline that conveys potable water from Burleson County to San Antonio. The project team successfully delivered the project from conception to water production under budget and within four-and-a-half years.
- Glassboro-Camden Line Environmental Impact Statement, which received honors from ACEC chapters in two states. ACEC of New York presented it with a Gold Award in the Studies, Research and Consulting Engineering Services category at its awards gala in April. ACEC of New Jersey honored it with a Distinguished Award in the same category.
- Restricted Crossing U-Turn Intersection (RCUT) project, which received an Engineering Excellence Award in the Transportation category at the ACEC of South Carolina awards gala in April.
- Dräger Manufacturing Facility, which won the 2022 Industrial and Manufacturing Processes and Facilities award earlier this year from ACEC Pennsylvania.
