In a new op-ed published in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Chris Haney, PE, president of STV’s Water group, explains why sustaining Atlanta’s growth starts with continued investment in water infrastructure. Recent intense storms across metro Atlanta underscored the role that water, wastewater and stormwater systems play behind the scenes: managing runoff, protecting water quality and helping a fast-growing region keep moving. 

As metro Atlanta continues to expand, reliable water infrastructure is more than a utility priority. It is an economic asset that supports business continuity, redevelopment, housing, recreation, environmental quality and long-term public confidence.

“Atlanta has spent decades strengthening its water and wastewater systems,” Haney said. “Sustaining that progress through continued investment, integrated planning and operational excellence will be central to supporting the region’s next phase of economic growth.”
