Two STV projects received project of the year awards from the Construction Management Association of America Metro NY/NJ chapter’s (CMAA Metro) 2024 awards program. Delta Air Lines Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport received an award in the building and infrastructure category and the NYC Health + Hospitals (NYC H+H) Metropolitan Hospital floodwall resilience project earned an award within the healthcare category.

The new Delta Terminal C is a 1.3-million-square-foot, LEED Silver Certified complex that is a key part of LaGuardia Airport’s larger $8 billion redevelopment program. STV, in joint venture with Satterfield & Pontikes (S&P), and in partnership with Turner Construction and Group PMX, served as Delta’s construction manager-as-agent for the project, which was Delta’s largest-ever investment in an airport facility at the time. The new headhouse and concourses feature expedited screening that prioritizes passenger safety, 30% more concession space, the largest Delta Sky Club in the airline’s system and art installations by six New York-based artists.

The project previously received an Empire Award from American Council of Engineering Companies of New York and was one of eight Grand Award winners at ACEC’s national Engineering Excellence Awards.

The NYC H+H Metropolitan Hospital project team was celebrated for the completion of the new flood protection system, including 8-to-12-foot-high floodwalls, floodgates clocking in at 45 feet wide and a storm water detention tank system. The hospital can now withstand a one-in-500-year storm event, marking a key milestone in NYC H+H’s Climate Resilience Plan, a comprehensive program to better protect healthcare infrastructure following Superstorm Sandy.

STV served as program manager alongside construction manager Gilbane for the project. Since 2016, STV has served as the program manager administering all aspects of a $1.7 billion capital construction program at four NYC Health + Hospitals facilities that were damaged by Superstorm Sandy, including the new Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital at Coney Island in South Brooklyn.
